Actually, I think the boot from the USB is working. Only problem is, at the stop I select Upgrade instead of Custom, because I want to keep my files (evidently), and it won't allow me to.

I did what you recommended above, downloading the tool to a USB, and putting it into the retarded computer.
I wouldn't call it an error bulletin, it but says "The upgrade option isn't available if you start your calculator using Windows installation media." Then it goes on...
"If a copy of Windows is already installed on this computer and you want to upgrade, remove the installation media and restart your computer. After WIndows has started normally, insert the installation media and run Windows setup."
I think I'll see my original problem if I just restart, though.
